Neuroprotective effects of exercise have been well documented in animal models of PD [5]. Early intervention with exercise may help slow the progression of PD in humans

چکیده
Force tracking using fine motor control with simultaneous cognitive dual tasking may provide a useful measure of disease progression in Parkinson’s disease (PD). Due to the challenging nature of the task, measures from this task may be useful in documenting changes in the progression of the disease especially since such changes are subtle in nature early on in the disease process. We have described a novel force tracking task and presented its relation to motor function based on the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale as well as specific to hand function based on the Grooved Pegboard Test, in participants with PD. This work is the first step in a line of research with the overall goal of developing a clinical progression biomarker with the help of a haptic device for PD.

Evaluation of Betaine Neuroprotective Effects on 6-Hydroxydopamine-Induced hemi-Parkinsonism in Male Wistar Rats
BACKGROUND: Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the prevalent debilitating neurodegenerative disor- ders. Accordingly, researchers are working on methods to modify PD progression. Previously, the neuro- protective effects of betaine, as a methyl donor agent in homocysteine metabolism, have been demonstrated in animal models of chronic cerebral hypoperfusion and memory deficits. OBJECTIVES: It wa...
متن کاملThe effect of red grape juice and exercise, and their combination on parkinson’s disease in rats
Objective: Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders which is characterized by tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia and postural disturbances. Studies indicate that grape juice and exercise may have beneficial effects on neurodegenerative disorders. Therefore, in the present study, we evaluated the effects of red grape juice (GJ) together with treadmill running on...
متن کاملP181: Effect of Aquatic Therapy on Improvement of Patients with Parkinson Disease: A Systematic Review
Parkinson disease (PD) is a degenerative neurological disorder that affects 0.5- 1% of old people in western countries. It primarily affects mobility function, and associated with increasing disability over time. People with PD express bradykinesia, rigidity, tremor, progressive postural instability and muscle weakness as symptoms of PD. Various exercise programs, including resistance or aerobi...
متن کاملNeuroprotective effects of voluntary wheel running and eriobotrya japonica flower extract on Parkinsonian rats
Backgrounds: The loss of dopamine-secreting cells and the decrease in the status of antioxidant is associated with incidents of Parkinson's disease. The purpose of the present study was to determine the protective effect of a 12- weeks voluntary wheel running (VWR) along with the injection of eriobotrya japonica flower extract (EJFE, 200 mg/kg body weight, 3 days a week) on cer...
متن کاملP 48: Pioglitazone in Early Parkinson: A Review Study
More than 10 million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease (PD). The ages of people who have Parkinson are variable, usually between 50 and 80 years, the average of them is 55 years old. The symptoms of PD are progressive, and within 10 to 20. It happens when dopaminergic neurons were being degenerate. Peripheral and central inflammatory and oxidative stress pathways play a...
